5 ways to help freelancers conclude their working day

As a freelancer your working day is often quite different from that experienced by a regular employee. You may have additional worries such as finding the best way to attract new contracts or meeting the deadline on an existing one.

In this post we'd like to share with you some of the top ways of ending your day as a freelancer.

In normal circumstances the time schedule of a freelancer can be erratic. If you have taken the money over sanity route you will need to implement measures to ensure you get your rest and keep your mind and body refreshed and rejuvenated.

The traditional three meals a day routine does not always work for a freelancer who is trying to keep up their productivity levels. If you find yourself without time for lunch make sure you remember to take a mid-afternoon snack. A lack of food reduces your energy levels and causes your metabolism to become sluggish. Taking a late afternoon snack will kick start your metabolism, help burn fat and boost your energy levels.

Sometimes after taking a break, freelancers feel tempted to stop work completely. One of the best things you can do to finish off that often energy sapping late afternoon is to think how satisfied you are with yourself when you have met your daily target. Training your brain to think in this way will give you the added motivation that you need to complete the last lap.

One of the best ways of ending your day with a bang is to set yourself a fixed finishing time AND stick to it. Plan your working day and allocate time limits to each task to make sure you complete your work allocation without the need to burn the midnight oil. Working into the small hours isn't going to benefit you in the long run as your productivity decreases as you get wearier.

After you've finished work and turned off your computer, go for a walk. Sitting in front of your computer for hours is more mentally taxing than a physical job. In addition to the obvious lack of exercise, you could end up damaging your eyes if you do not put measures in place to keep your work load in check. A nice relaxing walk at the end of the day will revive both your body and your mind.

Finally it is also important to put everything that has happened during the day into perspective. One of the best ways of doing this is to review your priorities. This will help you to establish if you are able to meet your goals and determine whether your work schedule is realistic. By doing this, you will have a clear road map to follow when you start work the next day.
