Thumbs down Contractors losing data again

Here's where the word contractor can be misleading and breed mistrust - just got wind on the news about a 'software contractor' who has lost a laptop containing information on 109,000 people whilst working for the Pensions Trust.

I thought "**** me", but after checking it up online I discover that it's an outsourcing company, not an individual like I thought it was.

I always worry with stuff like this that people will then look at us contractors when we arrive on site and think "I bet he's the sort of idiot that loses things"

Still.... a laptop with 109,000 peoples' personal details, NOT encrypted and supposedly for 'testing'... why would they need 109,000 records offsite to test something? Completely insane
