Default I need some PI Insurance

Morning all.

Can anyone recommend a company that does cheap Professional Indemnity Insurance? I need at least £2 million worth of cover and around £10 million of Public Liability Insurance as well.

Thanks
Iain

PCG members get big discounts with Chaunce O'Hara and Randell Dorling. Otherwise Hiscox get reasonable comments, as do QDOS. As always, the devil is in the detail, make sure you're comparing like-for-like; quotes will vary depending on sector, client base, annual income and a host of other things.

You'd probably need £10m of Employers Liability and then either £1m or £2m of Public Liability. They normally come as a pair anyway.

To give you an idea of price, if you're an IT contractor we would do £2m Professional Indemnity, £10m Employers Liability and £1m Public Liability for £272.50 per annum in total.

What about for private investigators please?

Mine's due for renewal and my existing provider has withdrawn their PI & PL products.

You're a private investigator?

Must be a freelance supermarket first!

I've used Qdos for as long as I can remember. The policies are much cheaper than Caunce O Hara for the same level of cover.

I hear what Mal is saying about checking the T&Cs etc. but I actually view PII a bit like a can of beans - why pay 59p for Heinz when you can get a tin of Branstons for 37p?

So why pay £450 for combined PII, PL, EL when you can get the same cover for less than £300?

What about Tesco Value or Aldi's own? A step too far?
