Default Umbrella company expenses (again)

Nice to see that we've moved on from the dark days of umbrella companies using expenses to promote their services

I am delighted to inform you that xxxxxxx's scale rate payments have been increased in line with the Retail Price Index. The increased rates will automatically be included in relevant expense claims from Monday 25th October 2010 onwards.

Since scale rate payments are only to save your "employer" the hassle of paperwork, why should the contractor - who should only claim what they've actually incurred anyway - care?

Good spot Beefy. This line is a bit of a worry:

"The increased rates will automatically be included in relevant expense claims from Monday 25th October 2010 onwards."

.....suggesting that Mr. Contractor doesn't even need to submit his expenses (or indeed incur them) in order to receive the taxable benefit.

I feel a PM coming on. Let me know where you found this please

PM sent.... the answer might be obvious to those that have been in the game a few years though.

Always the same suspects.
