Default Freelance to permanent entitlement?

I've been working for a company on a freelance basis since May 2008. As it's been over 2 and a half years, I wondered if I was entitled to anything particularly as I've been offered a permanent role. Any advice greatly appreciated.

As a freelance, no, absolutely nothing. The clue is in the job title. Employment rights start the day you start as a permie. The clue is also in the job title.

Malvolio is right. Freelancing brings certain benefits (choose your work, your hours etc.) and you often earn a little more than permanent staff.

However, you give up other entitlements in return - don't expect them even if you do end up there full time

Incidentally, why are you giving up freelancing?
