Be wary of any company that is casual with the rules, or it's 'interpretation' of the rules. If they tell you it's not something to worry about - worry about it. I'd sooner pay a little more % in tax and know my umbrella company is looking after it's contractors.

It's never worth the hassle of risking an investigation by the HMRC.

I wonder if anyone ever has been fully investigated by just working through an Umbrella? Surely, HMRC's time would be best spent 'investigating' the Umbrella itself not the individual contractors....
