Default Weekly Poll (23/04/2009)

The poll for the newsletter next week concerns a yesterdays Budget.

Many freelancers feel let down by the total lack action from Mr. Darling, with particular emphasis on IR35, income shifting (family business tax) and small company’s corporation tax.

What do you think?

Smile You better off or not?

Don't know about yous but I checked my personal situation on one of the many available charts in the newspapers and it seems I'm going to be up around £335 for the next couple of years (that's excluding all the stealth taxes the government are using to pinch it back off me).

Looking at pretty much every other permutation, people are better off too.

Unless I'm missing something.

Happy days!

This is a good point. I did a similar exercise and the numbers were pretty much the same. I'll say one thing, my mortgage has come down from about £675 per month to just £125 per month - petrol is cheaper, food, fine wine, eating out, entertainment for the kids, its all come right down. I'm not saying recession and sustained economic contraction is a good thing but it's not all bad news.

Yes, but my utility bills are much much higher and council tax keeps going up (one of the stealth taxes as central government keep cutting the money they give to local councils causing the rises).

And petrol getting cheaper??
