Angry Stupid media and the England team

Right, first of all - don't panic! It's a long tournament and we've only played one game.

Secondly, I'm extremely saddened by the way the media (and I'm especially looking at you here ITN) are vilifying Green.

Here's the problem, if you're an outfield player you can make a couple of mistakes a game and no-one notices. At worst you might miss a sitter, and apart from a few mutterings no-one really says much.

However, if you're the goalkeeper, you make one mistake and the whole result is your fault (even if the outfield didn't exactly kill the game off).

So it was a mistake. But to talk about one person the way the media has proves one thing:

Our media love building our national team up, then destroying them at the first opportunity.

Coach Fabio Capello added: "Sometimes a forward misses, sometimes a keeper makes a mistake - that's football."

Exactly bez's point, cheers Fabio.

B1oody hell, don't get me started on the World Cup

Not only have I had to watch the last 2 games on mute due to the incessant sound of that awful vuvuzela thing, England played like a bunch of muppets and the Germans won their opening game 4-0!

According to Sky Sports News, the travel schedule for fans has been nothing short of calamitous and more than 8,000 seats were empty for the South Korea game.

Seb Blatter is a total idiot. Talk about p1ss up in a brewery. When are the powers at Fifa going to realise that this guy is totally out of his depth....?

It can only get better...me hopes

I have to say, I thought the Italians looked poor last night. From what I've seen so far, its between Germany, Holland, Spain and Brazil for the title this time around. I'd love to see England go all the way but i'm a realist and that's just not going to happen i'm afraid, no matter what the tabloids may say...

Have we all stopped panicking now that other 'big' teams are also at best struggling, or worse drawing and losing?

I know Germany "looked good", but I wonder if all their best play will have come in that game.

I wonder what the odds are of Spain winning the World Cup now? I may even consider a flutter myself

Yes they do. But they also have every reason to feel let down by the over-paid, under-performing pre-madonnas out in South Africa. Like the other posters above, I believe that this is one of the worst World Cups on record, if not the worse.

Lets just hope Rooney and his friends do the business today. My wife bought me my first England shirt as a Father's Day present on the weekend. It's a shame it comes at the point where I'm at my most disillusioned with the National Team.

Still, it's not all that bad. At least i'm not French
