I see the future.....

Roughly 4 years from now, The Sun newspaper will do an interview with the future England football captain. It'll cover the entire back page and will include a picture of him with the World Cup and an enormous caption at the top of the page saying "We CAN do it this time!"

Call me an old cynic, but i'm just about done watching England play football. It doesn't matter who's in charge or who they're playing, we all just need to wake up to the fact that they're cr@p - total cr@p.

I'm seriously thinking on driving down to London, just so I can boo the useless, over-paid, over-hyped playboys as they step off the plane.

We did it the wrong way round. Argentina had a shocking qualifying and now look pretty solid.

We had a great qualifying run but arrived looking crap.

There's probably a hundred reasons:

1) A long football season
2) Overpaid prima donnas that believe their own hype
3) Lack of top players in the top leagues
etc. etc. etc.

But yes, fundamentally we're not very good. I blame the FA and the Premier League more than I do Capello.

If I was on £100,000 a week i'd be up and down that pitch like a tart's nickers.

Like SMG said, we are a bunch of perennial losers. No amount of money is going to change that.

Look at Spain last night....now they are class. I'm just glad we were knocked out before playing Argentina. Cause if you thought 4-1 against the Germans was embarrassing, you could probably double that scoreline against the likes of Messi and Tev.

I've given up worrying about watching England. That's why the 2008 European Championships were so enjoyable.....they didn't take part!

Who are you supporting? I have to go against the grain and say Germany. They've played well throughout the tournament. In a way I'm glad Brazil have gone out as I couldn't stand their constant diving and whinging.

I'm hoping for a German victory too now. They have been the most entertaining, attacking team I've seen in a while and they seem to be more about playing football and less about the diving, general cynicism and (the bit I hate most) making gestures to referees to get them to dish out cards. Which may of course be down to the early yellow cards for them in the Australia game.

I'm currently wondering how far I have to go back in my family tree to find out at what point some of my forefathers decided the East Midlands was better than Saxony just so that I can claim an ancestry link.

Ideally it would be against the Netherlands in the final.
