Default Effect of temperature on work rate

Anyone know anything about how temperature effects work rates? Do people in the Caribbean work as hard as those from Scandinavia?

Just interested.

Surely most workers in the Caribbean have air con and most workers in Scandinavia have heaters?

Very good point.
But I'm after those unfortunate fellows and fellowesses who don't have such luxuries. Bricklayers perhaps.

I'm not doing a study.

Was day-dreaming about moving abroad somewhere hot, then wondered if I'd be as productive if I was a bit too hot most of the time. I'm generally quite a hot person anyway, so being in a hotter climate might make me really lethargic. If I'm lethargic, I won't get as much done, won't earn as much and could end up sinking into a heat-induced ambivalence.

Do you know what I mean?

Dangerous stuff, heat.

Yes it is. I'm personally hoping for a wet summer this year. I spend a lot of time working from home in a 'yet to be converted' loft. When it's cold, it's really cold and when it's hot, it's close to unbearable. There were a couple of days last summer where I really couldn't manage any more than a 2 or 3 hour burst at a time due to the heat. So from my perspective, I’d say yes, heat is counter-productive.
