BBC NEWS | Business | Scrappage scheme lifts car sales
More spin.
We've basically injected a financial stimulus into foreign car makers. People are replacing moderately decent cars, so it's not like you're getting awful cars off of the road.
After all, the only people that car afford an outlay on a new car (even with a discount) in the current economic climate are bound to have a reasonably decent second hand car in the first place.
There is a limited government pot for this, so once the subsidy ends, will they be forced to just start the scheme up again? After all, surely the industry will hold them to ransom once sales fall again?
I hear a sound Labour, and it's the sound of the funeral director coming to take you away.
No flowers please.
