Default Weekly Poll - Would the CBI’s proposals minimise strike disruption (07/10/10)

This week’s industrial action on the London underground no doubt caused disruption for the Capital’s unlucky commuters. And there are increasing fears that we could be in for a winter of discontent once the government’s public spending cuts kick in.

The CBI wants to see the government make legal changes that would allow employers to hire freelancers and agency temps to cover for strike action, instead of the current system whereby employers have to recruit their temporary staff directly. The Confederation would also like to see the notice period for strike action increased from the current 7 days to 14 days so that businesses have more time to prepare.

What do you think - would the CBI’s proposals minimise strike disruption?
