Default Proof of a time traveller?

An Irish film director (hm, how convenient, wonder if he needs the publicity) has supposedly spotted someone using a mobile phone in a Charlie Chaplin film....

YouTube - IMPORTANT!! TIME TRAVELLER IN CHARLIE CHAPLIN??? FROM 1928 (What do you think?)

So... problem number one - why on earth would someone clever enough to build a time machine need to walk around using a mobile in public view?

Problem number two - if it is a mobile phone, what base stations is the device meant to be using?

I don't think you need to be a scientist to work out that this is utter BS, so not sure why the BBC felt the need to run such an uncritical article.

Have some faith Beefy. What is that Flaming Lips song?

"as logic stands we're gonna meet a man who's from the future"

As for the provider, have you not seen the new Vodafone adverts?

"The best mobile network coverage in the UK, even if you fancy nipping back to the 1920s"

This is a scam. You can't help but notice the strategically placed poster of the guy's latest film in the background! He must be loving this with over a million visitors on YouTube.

Wow yes. It must be real.... a time traveller!!!!!!

So you are a time traveller, you take you mobile phone into the past... and it connects to what!?!?! No phone networks then - no phone masts, no mobile phone companies etc etc etc.

Most likley a small radio held to her ear, or some kind of hearing aid, or anything.

Or maybe the irish film maker has actually got it wrong. Maybe she is an alien and is speaking to the leader of the planet Zob on her intastella walki-walkie.

I wonder if anyone has actually bought the dvd and watched it for themselves? It strikes me that this is all too convenient. Perhaps Mr. Irish filmmaker simply recorded the fat man on the mobile in 2010.

Movies nowadays can be easily edited. Maybe the movie was edited...

I love the introduction - it's very Lost.

Scam or no scam, this guy knows how to work new media. How else could he have gotten that much exposure in such a short space of time?

Good luck to the bloke.
