Angry Cr@p - £150 late filing fee!

Just received a letter from Companies House saying that my company owes them £150 for filing it's accounts late.

* Bugger *

When did they starting charging?

Next question - is it tax deductible?

You're a freelancer, shouldn't you be a bit more organised?

Actually i'm a contractor but thanks for asking

And no, I don't think I should be a bit more organised. I've got important work to do, instead of fannying around with all this compliance stuff!

Go into your calendar.

Set up an entry.

Add an alarm reminder.

Set to recur.

Not difficult.

Actually you're a company director with legal responsibilities. Which includes operating your business in line with all relevant statute.

If you have a Mac, Companies House may waive the fee if you can prove you attempted to submit your accounts before the deadline but for some unknown technical reason, they didn't go through.

PC users have to bite the bullet and pay up i'm afraid.
