22.8% of traditional employees are unhappy in their job and 27% would not recommend their employer to others.

On the other hand, a massive 86% of contractors think that their overall mood and outlook to business has improved since they became a flexible worker.

There's nothing like the freedom that comes from being a freelancer. I would add however that freedom does not take away responsibilities. In fact, being in charge of your own destiny usually means working twice as hard as when you were a permie.

I think the trap that most middle class dreamers fall into is believing the nonsense in the media about having your own business and enjoying loads of free time. The reality is that you work 45-48 weeks of the year (if you are lucky) and spend the rest of your time worrying about where your next gig will come from.
