Default Weekly Poll (02/07/09)

This weeks poll relates to the first blog written by Azazel the Agent.

In the blog Azazel argues that recruitment agents, despite being much maligned by freelancers and contractors, are actually extremely vital and perhaps could do with some more credit.

So, nice and simple: do you believe that recruitment agents could do with some more credit?

Some recruitment agents deserve more credits. Judgement awaits on the rest.

An even 50:50 split... obviously those who have voted 'no' haven't read my article yet.

I think recruiters do have a valuable role to play for hirers to source the right candidates. But there are so many things that can frustrate this process for flexible workers, that is often beyond the control of recruiters - who tend to be personally blamed for all ills.

Of course there is recruiter bad practice, which we read about all the time on discussion boards, usually at the exclusion of everything else. But this is only one element in a whole process that may or may not work to the satisfaction of all parties.

Hirers also have a lot to answer for too. It should also be said that flexible workers aren't always honest or upfront with recruiters, which can hinder their attempts to service hirers in the way they should.
