I couldn't agree more. If you shoot someone in the head you get life in prison, surely the same should apply if you are driving a car?

He was done for careless driving but let off for dangerous driving. I obviously missed the part of how driving a several tonne truck into the back of a family car wasn't dangerous.

Ignoring whether he was on his phone/using his laptop etc. he still didn't see a stationery queue of traffic on a motorway and failed to stop in time. Definitely dangerous in my book.

It's a scary thought... you can be as careful as you like through life, but one bit of carelessness from another person and without warning it's all over.
