Default Gmail down

I use GMail for all my emails. It's down today and a quick search of google news (which is still working) shows that it's a worldwide problem.

According to google 'a small number of users' are affected. Given the size of their customer base that could be pretty substantial indeed!

I hope they sort this soon as I'm waiting on a couple of emails. Anyone else being affected by this?

I had the same problem earlier. Waiting on a parcel delivery and couldn't access my e-mail to find the tracking number. Luckily it was back up by the time I went on lunch.

Still, can't complain, it is a free service and usually pretty reliable.

I'm not complaining too much, though it is concerning as Google products are usually pretty reliable. I hope they're not overstretching themselves.

Either way, got the e-mails I was looking out for this afternoon, so all's well that ends well.

Not that I have lots of free time on my hands, but I read the news story regarding Gmail being down on BBC news

It says that 'Professional users are covered by a service level agreement that promises to be 99.9% operational in any calendar month'. I did the maths and this equates to around 43.8 minutes a month of downtime. I wonder what Google will offer its professional users by way of compensation?

Gmail went down again last night. Glad it wasn't during the day as I use google apps for my email account.

Oddly enough though, emails were still pinging to my mobile, so I had some functionality.

It's times like this that you realise just how much many of us need google...

Yep, it was definitely down last night. I was watching four weddings (not the film) with the missus whilst secretly trying to check my emails!
