Default Michael Schumacher in shock F1 return

I honestly didn't see this coming

BBC SPORT | Motorsport | Formula 1 | Schumacher makes shock F1 return

When I read the rumours I thought "he won't come back", but I was wrong....

Makes perfect sense. Badoer and Gene are both older and considerably less talented drivers, he's still race fit and he knows the team. Any other options - the most obvious being signing Alonso mid-season - are likely to be commercially difficult (for which read "expensive"). And Ferarri are never going to take on a rookie.

Schumacher/Hamilton/Button in comparable cars - now that could be fun...

I had a feeling he might, due to his very close links with the team. I think he'll go back into it like a duck to water, since he has been test driving on and off (so got a rudimentary knowledge on the developments of the car) and for the rest of it his natural talent will push him forward.

Even if he's lost some of his driving edge, it'll surely only put him on a comparison with the rest of the drivers??

I've heard the only thing that could stop this is his neck injuries from a bike accident. Otherwise his fitness it quite high anyway.

Anyone else salivating of what will happen if Lewis eyes up one of his great bold overtaking manoeuvres and Schumi utilises his controversial blocking moves? I'd love to see who wins that one!

All we need is for McLaren to drop Heiki and bring back Mika Hakkinen and then we really would be in for some fun....
