Thumbs down West Ham vs Millwall trouble

BBC NEWS | England | London | London football violence probed

Why do news reports always continue to use the word "fans" in these news stories.

I know many football fans from many different clubs, aside from a bit of friendly banter I get on with them fine.

Those that congregate merely for a scrap are never, ever football fans or supporters.

No matter how much they "like" their team.

They're not fans.

When will journalists get that into their heads?

As this was a cup game, I presume a lot of those on the pitch are not season ticket holders (as those with a season ticket would find themselves banned). Disgraceful, the lot of them.

A lot of the fights outside were also happening during the game. Hardly fans if they're not watching the game, are they?

Hm, I was hoping I'd never see scenes like this again. At least they didn't get into rucks with the stewards - people that are paid not much above minimum wage with no training in crowd control. Left to the lions.
