Question England football friendlies

Just as a quick check, did anyone actually watch the England friendly the other day? Did anyone care?

Wembley wasn't even sold out, and I'll tell you why: £40 for an adult, £15 for under 16s.

Much too expensive for a non-competitive fixture of little importance.

Lets try this again:

I think they are useful, friendlies. But they are hyped up too much and are definitely overpriced.

I also think we should play more competitive teams. What's the point of playing teams like Slovenia? We need to play some top teams so we really know - before we reach major finals - our limitations or lack of experience.

More competitive teams wouldn't want to play us all the time. Besides, they play minor nations yet still beat us when it matters.

What the friendlies do is show our players up for what they are - uninterested in the international scene.

Why should they care? They make their millions at club level. Unless an unknown player has a fantastic performance in a big tournament they will get their reputation for what they do at club level.

I'll sound like my dad, but they should be proud to represent their country.

The world stage should ALWAYS be the pinnacle of achievement.

I think we just have a load of chancers who would prefer to have a day off rather than play international football, when practically any of the poor *******s who idolise them and earn less in a year than they earn in a week would replace them in an instant.
