Good news last night for Magpies supporters when owner Mike Ashley announced the club was no longer for sale. Chris Hughton was also appointed permanent boss.
Ashley appears to have rekindled his love affair with the Toon and has pledged to invest another £20m to help Hughton achieve an instant return to the Premier League.
Newcastle has always seemed to be a club that never quite fulfilled their true potential. They haven't won any notable honours since their Fairs Cup win in 1969.
This must be in part due to the fact that managers do not seem to remain there for very long. In fact in the last 10 years, the club has seen 8 'permanent' managers, and the late Sir Bobby Robson occupied the role for the best part of 5 of those years.
Here's hoping that between the two of them, Ashley and Hughton can pull the club up and give us loyal Geordie's something to cheer about!
