Default Could you spend £75,000 a week?

Could you spend £75,000 a week?

Struggling? Just ask former Newcastle United striker Obafemi Martins how it's done. According to his former management company, he regularly withdrew £40,000 at weekends and a further £25,000 the following Monday.

Martins, who owned several fast cars including a top-of-the-range £85,000 Porsche Cayenne 4x4, spent the money on a lifestyle of luxurious penthouse homes and fine dining.

He owned a large multimillion pound home in the exclusive footballers' enclave of Darras Hall, near Ponteland, Northumbria, and rented an opulent flat overlooking Newcastle upon Tyne's trendy Quayside.

I think I'd struggle to spend that amount on a regular weekly basis, but I'm sure I'd have fun trying...

If I had access to that sort dosh, I could very easily spend £75,000 in a week. But whether I could do it every week, just on frivolities and luxuries, is quite another matter. I'm not that materialistic anyway because I'm not the kind of person that gives a monkey's about having the latest iPhone or HP Ready TV or lusts after owning a high performance car etc. As long as I can make and receive calls and the TV works and I can get from A to B without breaking down, that's all that matters to me.

Investing that amount every week wouldn't be so hard though.

uh-huh... I don't want to cast aspersions/allegations... I don't know the guy... but there are plenty of other high-cost 'substances' that don't full into the 'fine dining' category.

I could easily imaging BLOWing that kind of money on expensive 'habits'.

If he has that much money and he spends it that fast and mostly on things that are way too excessive, that's just gross...especially since the rest of the world is suffering because of the recession.

There's just no other word for it. It's just gross.

I can but I won't. Millions are starving to death in other parts of the world.
