Type of user selection

When you join our forum you are asked to indicate what type of user you are. The choices are:

A contractor

A recruitment agent

A recruitment agency

A representative from an umbrella company

A representative from an accountancy service provider

A representative of a company that provides both umbrella company and accountancy services

An end client who contractors provide services for and agencies hire on behalf of

A representative of a company that offers services to freelancers and contractors, such as financial services or legal cover

The purpose of this option is to allow other users to see what sort of member of the freelance community you are, and from what perspective you are posting.

Please note that you do not have to state which company you work for, we understand that at times it is inappropriate to offer opinion on matters that could affect your position in your company, which would restrict debate

However, it is very important that this option is used accurately and truthfully. Attempting to mislead other users (for example, registering as a contractor and then spamming other members with contract offers) is strictly not allowed.

If you have any reason to suspect that someone is attempting to mislead others about their identity for malicious purposes please email webmaster@freelancesupermarket.com or send a private message to the FLSM Mod for further investigation

Malicious use of this function

If a member is found to have attempted to mislead other users about their true identity via this function it will be changed by a moderator and will warn that member using the procedure outlined in our "Warning and Bans" section below.

In extreme cases we reserve the right to enforce a permanent ban immediately.

Moderators

Posts on the forum are monitored and reviewed by a team of moderators who have additional permissions on the forum that allow them to delete, edit, move, merge and spilt any posts or topics.

Role of Moderators

The general aim of the moderators is to make sure the forums are a safe and fun place for users and to protect freelancesupermarket.com from risks associated with running online forums.

Specifically this means:

To intervene when posts breach forum rules such as when posts are thought to be unlawful, harassing, defamatory, abusive, threatening, harmful, racially offensive, homophobic or are highly objectionable.

Warnings and bans

1. The forum operates a three strikes policy. Users will be warned a maximum of three times for any and all offences in a one month period. If the need arises for a fourth warning a temporary ban will be put in place of between 1 to 7 days.

2. Arguing with Moderators & Administrators after having received a warning will lead to an immediate additional warning. Should this exceed three strikes a temporary ban will be put in place as above.

3. Any attempt to circumvent a temporary ban will lead to that ban being made permanent. Circumvention includes re-registering under a non-banned username, changing IP addresses to evade an IP ban, registering a new email account to evade an email ban.

4. An exception to the three strike rule applies when users contact Moderators personally (via any method) and post insulting, indecent or vulgar material. Such users may be subject to an immediate permanent ban.

5. Permanent bans are a last resort and thought is given before implementing them. While Moderators may consider lifting permanent bans from time to time this is a rare occurence.

6. The moderators are in place to protect freelancesupermarket.com from risks associated with running online forums. Therefore their decision is final and by using the forum you agree to this.
