Default Professional Indemnity Insurance for U.S. contract

Hello there. I have been offered a lovely new IT contract in the US and have hit a major snag - nobody it seems wants to offer PII to a UK person working in America.
I'm actively investigating this via the web but if anybody can offer additional advice or suitable companies that do offer this then that will be most welcome, please?
Also I will be with an umbrella company so won't be Ltd.
Thank you.

It is notoriously difficult to get PI for US work from a UK insurer. Obviously this is because of the litigious nature of US society, but it doesn't make life easy for people in your position.

To be honest, even if you can get a quote from a UK insurer it will probably be well into 4 figures (I've not seen one for less than £2k).

You could possibly contact an American insurer to see if they can help. Alternatively you could speak to your client and see whether the contract can be changed so it doesn't fall under US jurisdiction (bit of a long shot though).

Thank you for that. In all honesty the US client will pay anything to make this contract work and I'm sure they will in addition, do whatever it takes with the contract.

The problem I am having is so much conflicting information. On the one hand this will be under UK law and taxation, as it is here that I have a permanent residence but on the other hand I will come under US tax laws, etc as it is there that I will ultimately be working.

All very confusing.
