Default Nice plush recruitment agency offices

Anyone ever noticed how the recruiters that take the biggest margin have the nicest offices? Leather sofas, TVs on the wall in reception, glass walls throughout instead of bog standard partitions etc. etc.

Worried more about wooing new corporate accounts than reducing the margin they force from your clammy hands?

Just wondering like.

Hm, your stirring didn't work Azazel.

You could look at it the other way and say at least by wooing the new corporate accounts they may create another avenue for me to get my next contract.....

Stirring? Me?

As usual I'm just telling it like it is. Or maybe I'm playing devil's advocate. It's hard to remember which it is sometimes.

You know, it occurs to me, in all the years contracting (and freelancing), in all the contracts, I have never ever ever been to an agencies offices. Its all been done by phone and email - never met an agent face to face.

Is it just me, or is this unusual??

Nope. I'm exactly the same. It makes you wonder if any of them actually have an office. Perhaps they just buy a PO number in a s****y location and then spend the rest on a website, business cards and legal stationary etc.

I have. It's not the most fun way to spend an afternoon. The agents get all chummy and pretend that they're your best friend.

If they're like that for contractors I can only imagine that they're only worse for potential clients.
