Question Misrepresentation issue with recruiter

Hi,

I recently attended an interview arranged by a recruitment agency, the agency had doctored my CV to such an extent that the interviewer knew it was contained false information because he was part of a surveying project that i worked on and the agency indicated on my CV that i carried out this survey for a completely different organisation, one i might add that was not even mentioned on my true CV.

I have since spoken to the interviwer and apologised, he did realise my CV was incorrect. The agency also altered my job titles to positions that i have never had. I have spoken to the agency who had no real answers other than i should agree with the content of my CV next time before attending interview, to i suggested if they sent my true CV to the employer then this would not arise. My daughter is a solicitor and is asking a colleague to advise me as to bringing an action against the agency for misrepresentation. Do you have any history of similar things happening and what the consequences to the agencies are?

I feel very strongly about this as i have my CV to an agency to forward to potential employers, in the knowledge that the content of my CV is a true account of my working life and it in no way needs either altering or enhancing.

Thanks
