Exclamation Azazel the Agent: would you be so rude to your mother (Blog)

Welcome along, my little disciples, to another blog written by me. Last time I wrote I explained why I was important to you. One respondent said that contractors didn't need recruitment agents, as without jobs and candidates we would be out of business. Rubbish.

OK, so what about agents:

- Who are permanently based "just away form their desk" in case they have to talk to someone

- Whose direct lines go straight to voicemail which presumably get auto-deleted after 15 seconds since you never hear back from them

- Who take you through some elongated application process and a pile of form filling then apparently vanish off the face of the earth

- Who can't remember who you are one day after the last time they spoke to you

- Who email you something that actually does align to your skillset so you re-edit the CV and send it back then they are never heard from again

Funny how an agency can be too busy to talk to its suppliers but get upset when its suppliers are too busy to talk to it. Communication is a two way street. It's not us that are bad at it; you guys should try it sometime.

I'm sorry, I didn't realise that I'm "Azazel, leader and controller of all recruitment agents and recruitment agencies and responsible for all their actions"

I'm just a drop in the ocean, doing my own thing in my own way. To criticise me for how some recruiters act is like me criticising you for contractors that try to renegotiate a rate at a crucial stage of a project or those that don't turn up on day one because they've found a better contract and just didn't tell anyone.

Should I make you answer for those crimes?

So what we need is a Code of Conduct for both sides then. Glad you agree...

So here's a thought - I'll set up a website service where contractors sign a CoC and provide proof of ID, residency and professional referees, and you give them first dibs at any jobs going. Would that work?
