Lightbulb Budget 2009 - what contractors can expect

My personal wish list...

• Abolition of IR35
• Abolition / scrapping of proposed Family Business Tax
• Reduction in rate of corporation tax for small companies
• VAT flat rate % (payable) reduced for Management Consultants
• Mileage allowance increase (> 10,000 miles) from 40p to 50p
• VAT on alcohol frozen (indefinitely)

that's just a starter for ten.

Expect them trying to pay for our debt.... so I think many of yours won't happen.

I wouldn't be so sure. IR35 is very close to getting the axe. I also think there might be a CT rate reduction for small companies. We find out next Wednesday.

Should add, if it does they'll only replace it with something else
