Forums are a nice idea, i'm not sure how many employers are in here though

Also, what happens if you post under a pen name? I can't see CliveP becoming a well-known brand name across the net.

Some great advice on this article.

I think that Linked IN and Ecademy are worth a mention - they are also free - Both these business networking sites can produce business in my experience, but it takes some knowledge to learn how to use them and some time to use them effectively.

elance and odesk are effective, peopleperhour / peopleforbusiness so not so good in my experience.

I've found that a lot of those sites have very low-cost service providers (traffic is massive in India amound students and recent graduates able to make a living 'in the West'.

I've found most work, most recently, through exising contacts and friends and it still seems to be the way to go.

Emma Jones suggested recently that approaching existing customers is a great tactic too.

Finding freelancer work is no problem if you're good.

If you're no good, freelancing may not be right for you
