Just after a few opinions, I usually get my work through word of mouth and the only advertising I have is my website. I thought I'd try a new way to get some leads.

The designer I use has designed me a leaflets and I was after some opinions on it and some ideas on how best to use it.

Designer is http://www.pawkycreative.co.uk don't worry, I'm going to hook him up with a better website.

I can't view them. They're either CMYK or RGB and need to be the other - I forget which one doesn't show up in IE.

Default Your advertising - suggestions

Hi there,

Few points on the advertising:
  • I can't see you brand / logo on it anywhere.
  • Your website and this advert seem to be two totally different brand styles.
  • The message suggests you only do websites for small businesses but your skills suggest you could handle larger.
  • A phone and email address are highly important.

Always remember the advert should have a 'Call to Action' on it.
ie: Call Jamie now to see how your website can help your business...

Hope these suggestions help.

Hi Jamie - sorry if I'm too late to reply (swine flu - aargh!)

All very good points from ivoryred.

You initially asked how you could use these. Here are my thoughts:

- hand them out when you go to networking events
- ask local business centres or rented office/meeting spaces if you can put some in their receptions
- put them on cars at local business parks where the units are for the size or type of companies you are targeting
- post them through the doors of likely looking offices/shops/industrial units
- hand them out at rush hour at (or near) your local train station (you need to check with your council first if you a. need a licence for this and b. are allowed to do this - in most places you can - inside London train stations it's a different matter and you need a £2k licence - in Rotherham I think you would just need to contact the council if you are on public land near to a station)
- mail them to businesses of a certain size, in your chosen target area (try registering with Mailing Lists, Business Email Lists & Business Lists | MarketScan - free to join and you can then do online counts of businesses meeting certain criteria such as size, postcode, type, etc - then you can buy, say, 100 of these, for £22.50+VAT for a 12 month use)

What I would say is that these won't bring you in new business in isolation, and it's always best to utilise a number of methods at once, so that your prospects can see as many messages from you as possible. So as well as your fliers, try doing some email marketing, perhaps a small advert in a local business magazine or paper, get tweeting and follow companies in your area (so that they will follow you back), write and send out a press release, perhaps with a special offer, post on regional forums (if there are any), etc, etc.

Good luck.
