Timothy Baker was sentenced to six years imprisonment at Southwark Crown Court last week for his involvement in frauds costing more than £700,000.

Describing him as a "ruthless conman", his Honour Judge Testar gave Baker, of Wolverhampton Road, Walsall, four years for conspiracy to defraud RBS and two years for conspiracy to defraud HSBC.

Sentences will run consecutively and the judge ordered time already spent in custody to be taken into account. Baker has also been disqualified from holding a directorship for eight years.

Rachael Baker, of Great Saredon, Wolverhampton, pleaded guilty to one count of money laundering and was given a 12-month suspended sentence and 100 hours unpaid community work.

Stephen Roberts, of Goldthorn Park, Wolverhampton, was sentenced to 10 months for conspiracy to defraud RBS and 10 months for conspiracy to defraud HSBC.
