The RCI, which is complied by ExecuNet, tracks the confidence and future expectations of executive search firms on a monthly basis.
December's survey found that confidence in the executive search market is at its highest level since the beginning of 2008, with recruiters now expecting a 19 percent increase in corporate placements.
153 executive recruiters took part in the latest survey, which found that 54 percent are "confident" or "very confident" the executive employment market will improve during the next six months - up from 50 per cent in November 2009.
Mark Anderson, President and Chief Economist of ExecuNet commented on these findings: "This bodes well for job seekers and those executives who may have deferred searching in the last 12 to 18 months," He continued: "The increase in search activity shows companies have started to expand staffs after a long period of cutbacks."
In their latest report on the economic outlook in this country, PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PwC) have again warned that public spending will need to be tightened to reduce the UK's budget deficit. Although many recruiters now expect an upturn in activity over the next 6 months, there are still fears that the economy will dip after the forthcoming general election.
