Grab More Freelance Clients in 2018

One of the most frequent questions I get here at Freelance Supermarket is “how to get more clients?” Well, you are in luck, because here is the answer...

It doesn't matter if you are just starting out in the freelance world or you already have a roster of regular clients...getting more of them is essential for making you more money. It really is that simple.

Go on social media

One way to grab unsuspecting freelance clients is to intercept them on social media sites such as Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.

The vast majority of people you want as clients are probably on social media, and most of the time, it's easy to connect with them.

You can also sign up to a site called LinkedIn, which allows you to upload details about yourself and then network online with people that might be interested in your services.

Networking events

Speaking of networking, have you ever tried networking offline as a way to get more freelance clients? Many cities around the country now host special networking events where business owners and freelancers can meet up and start talking.

The best way to stand out at these kind of events is to just be normal and get natural conversations going. Eventually things will turn to business.

Don't be one of those people who go around the event shoving their business card in the face of everyone and saying things like "I will give you a discount if you sign up today...it's got to be today though."

Public speaking

Not everybody is comfortable with public speaking, but for those freelance professionals who are then getting clients should not be a problem.

One excellent way to approach this is by speaking at a conference that is full of the kind of people who you want as a client.

You give a speech that positions you as the expert, and before you know it, they are queuing up to become your clients at any price you want.

Work for free

In my opinion, working for free is not a very good idea, but there are some freelancers who have made it work in order to get more clients.

What they do is identify the type of clients they really want to get, and then approach them with the offer of a freebie. If you are confident of doing a really great job, to the point where the client would be mad not to hire you after what you deliver, then this could be the approach for you.

However, my advice would be to never do free work for clients who approach you asking for it. They are just trying to scam you and get a free lunch, something of which there should not be in the freelance world.

Joint Venture

A really great way to grab more freelance clients in 2018 is to joint venture with other freelance professionals.

For example, if you are a content writer then teaming up with a web designer can be very beneficial.

You then both recommend each others services to your clients, which in turn should mean more business and more money for both of you.

Conclusion

If you follow the tips above then you should be able to grab all the freelance clients you need. Now get to work.
