Umbrella Payments

freelancesupermarket.com - showcasing freelance services

An Umbrella Company acts as your employer, for tax purposes, when you undertake a contract with a recruitment agency or client.

All the income you generate whilst on assignment will be treated as salary, after the deduction of allowable expenses. This means you pay NICs and PAYE on your taxable earnings.

Like most employees, you should expect to receive statutory payments in the form of holiday and sick pay as well as other benefits such as a company pension. If you have any questions regarding the payments received through an Umbrella Company, please visit our freelance forum where help is at hand.

What is covered in this section

Can I claim statutory holiday & sick pay?
What is a BACS and CHAPS payment?
Does an Umbrella Company pay dividends?
Why has my agency quoted me a PAYE rate and a Limited Company rate?
How much can I expect to take home using an Umbrella Company?
Do I need to send my Umbrella Company my P45?
